I ran across a nifty little online tool that tests your browser for HTML5 readiness. Here’s how several of the latest browsers that I use scored:

  • Google Chrome (Mac) v7.0.517.44
    • scored 231/300 with 16 bonus points
  • Safari (Mac) v5.0.2
    • scored 208/300 with 7 bonus points
    • lacked support in parsing rules and files
  • Opera (Mac) v10.63 build 8450
    • scored 159/300
    • 7 bonus points for video and audio support
    • lacked support in parsing rules, user interaction, communication and files
  • Firefox (Mac) v3.6.10
    • scored 139/300 with 6 bonus points
    • lacked support in parsing rules, elements, forms and communication
  • IE8 (Win) v8.0.6001.18702
    • scored 27/300 with no bonus points
    • lacked support in parsing rules, canvas, video, audio, forms, user interaction, web applications, geolocation, communication, files and workers

All browsers lacked support for Local devices, Microdata and WebGL.We are getting close (with the exception of IE) but we still have much to do. If someone has the results for IE9, please let me know so I can update the scores.
